Something I am regretting: doing core two days in a row and doing a pump/core combo class the day after a legs workout. So much pain right now. You know it’s good when you can’t sleep because your butt and abs hurt so much.
Something I am not regretting: making those banana flourless pancakes for breakfast. I was expecting egg with banana in it. Instead I got something that was very much like a pancake, minus the bad stuff. Yum.
What would you do if you needed/wanted to use the squat rack and there was a guy in there doing ab work… on the floor… not using the bar (yes, this happened)? Is this worse than curling in the squat rack?
As promised, this is my new upper body workout that my trainer has given me. The moves are simple, but it gets your muscles burning.
Machines.
Dumbbells
Then tricep dips off the bench
Then tricep extensions on the machine.
10 minutes HIIT, machine of your choice. I prefer the elliptical or treadmill (I hate the bike).
Rinse and repeat. This is a circuit meaning no rests between sets. I have a water break and a brief stretch after the cardio section (because at the moment I need it). If you aren’t dying at the end of this you aren’t pushing yourself enough. I was a sweaty mess by the end of the first circuit and shakey at the end of the second.
I’m currently doing sets of 15. My goal is to be able to do 3 circuits (except only 2 lots of cardio) with sets of 20 reps in an hour by the time July rolls around.
Just got home from the gym after my first full-hard try at my new upper body workout and wow. I am wrecked. If this doesn’t give me amazing definition (combined with a good diet, of course) I don’t know what will. I was drenched in sweat and every part of me was shaking by the time I was done. I had to sit and stretch for ages until I worked up the courage to walk home (it’s only an easy walk!).
It’s a circuit with no breaks between exercises and each circuit is broken up by 10 minutes of intense cardio.
At the moment I’m only doing two rounds but my trainer has said that I need to be doing three in an hour (only two rounds of cardio) by the time I get home in June. I’m probably going to struggle but I’m really excited by the challenge.
When I get around to it, I’ll post up my circuit so y’all can check it out.
I’m actually scared to try legs on Saturday because when we did the circuits on tuesday (only one of arms and one of legs) it was the legs that made me spew. I’m actually looking forward to my strength day because even though the individual exercises are harder at least I get a rest in between :p
Shit just got real over here and I am loving it.
and I’m the coach. Ha! Unco for the win!
Wouldn’t that sort of weight lifting be bad for her development, at her age? It’s amazing, but yeah. What do you think?
So I’m less than a week out from flying home for easter. To be honest, I’m a little bit scared. I’m not only seeing my trainer for the first time in 8 weeks, but also my boyfriend (to be clear, they are different people).
I’m scared about seeing my trainer in case I haven’t been doing enough. I know I’ve stepped up the amount and variety of my work outs since summer, but still… I just hope it’s enough, y’know? But I’m pretty sure he’ll be impressed with my squats.
As far as the bf goes… well, we were together when I was at my heaviest, but I just feel like I’ve been working so hard and I want to look different than I did last time I saw him.
I don’t know, maybe I’m silly. My biggest fear is that they’ll think I’ve gone backwards, even though I know my weight has gone down. Ehhhh.
THIS IS NOT A BEFORE AND AFTER! These photos were taken only seconds apart.
How to look like you’ve lost 10lbs in 10 seconds? Improve your posture.
I know that the cool thing to do is to slouch and look like you don’t care. Rounded shoulders have that sexy, rebellious thing going for them that just oozes cool. BUT better posture has so many benefits!
Improving your posture will make you look taller, thinner and more confident. Your belly will appear smaller, your butt more pert and your breasts will look fuller and perkier. WINNING ALL AROUND.
Other than the aesthetic benefits, you’ll help your back and neck health. Good posture is even better for helping your digestion! Additionally, if you engage your core and your glutes you’ll work them throughout the day so it’s a workout that doesn’t feel like a workout!
So remember: shoulders back, suck in that belly to engage the core and stand tall and proud.
So today I headed off to the gym to do a legs workout. I was in my leopard-print weights shoes (picture coming) ready to do some heavy squats. Everything was going well, I’d loaded up my bar to 55kgs and was half-way down when, much to my surprise some guy started doing pullups on the back of my cage. Um, excuse me, wtf?
Firstly, there are 4 people in the whole gym. Total.
Secondly, there are 2 squat cages, and only one (mine) is in use.
Thirdly, there are pull up bars.
Finally, even if all of these were busy, wouldn’t you wait until I’d finished my set?
Our conversation went like this.
Me: Um excuse me, what are you doing?
Him: Pull-ups. I didn’t think you’d mind.
Me: Actually I do. It’s very distracting, especially when I’m in the middle of a set. Couldn’t you use a vacant spot? Or… wait?
Him: How much are you squatting?
Me: *glares until he gets awkward and walks away*
Like, really?? Are you serious? My head phones are in, I’m in the middle of a set DO NOT TALK TO ME.
Also, I’m pretty sure this wasn’t him trying to hit on me but an intimidation tactic because a) I haven’t washed my hair in three days and b) I moisturised before hitting the gym because my skin felt dry. Basically, I was a smelly, sweaty, greaseball. Hot, I know.
Just, ugh. SO frustrating. Has this or something like it ever happened to anyone else?
